In the interest of responsible breeding, my pet puppies are sold on "Limited Registration" and I require that puppies be microchipped.

This means that your dog has the ability to be registered with the American Kennel Club (AKC) and is eligible to enter events such as agility, obedience, and rally trials. However, the dog is not eligible to compete in conformation events, and any offspring they produce would not be eligible for AKC registration.

This does not in any way mean that the dog is of a lesser quality. Most puppies are purchased from Northwinds to be companions and the owners have no interest in showing or breeding their dog. Limited registration would have no bearing on these owners or their dogs.

If an owner does become interested in showing or breeding in the future, limited registration can be removed and full registration given if certain criteria are met by the dog and owner; only the breeder (Cora / Northwinds English Setters)  is able to make this change.
