HOUSEBREAKING
Crate training is the best way of housebreaking your pup. Dogs are very clean animals and they don’t like to sleep in a soiled area.
Always let your puppy out:
First thing in the morning
When you return from being away
Before and after meals
When they wake from a nap
After play periods.
Take your puppy to the same area every time to relieve himself. You need to be quiet so you don’t distract him from taking care of business. When done, make sure you praise your puppy. They need to know when they are doing well.
If your puppy has an accident, calmly tell your dog “No”. Take him to the door, say “Do you want to go out?”, then accompany him to his special spot. Once he relieves himself, be sure to give him plenty of praise.
Puppies respond well to praise, and they want to please you.
Most important of all, have a schedule for your puppy.
