Northwind's English Setters

AKC English Setter Breeder of Merit Cora Hebert Northwinds English Setters

Welcome to Northwinds English Setters.  After seeing all these beautiful English Setters, you will fall in love and feel you must have one of your very own. It is the beauty of my English Setters that will capture your attention. Their personality and temperament will capture your heart.  In my opinion, the English Setter is the perfect companion. They are generous, loving, mindful of your needs and will give you kisses and hugs anytime you need or want them.

My philosophy is neither about the number of champions bred nor the number of litters born each year.  I breed for quality not quantity and I do not breed multiple litters each year.
I breed selectively based on health, temperament, pedigree and breed type.  My website was designed not only to showcase my wonderful dogs but also to provide information on the English Setter breed and as a reference point for all puppy purchasers.

Girls vs Boys:  "The girls love you, but the boys are in love with you." The girls say love me, love me.  The boys say "I love you".  The boys are much more devoted, as a rule, and are willing to sit with you all day and night if you want. While the girls sometimes have their own agenda and will want to explore off and on. I am not saying they aren't as loving and kind as the boys, they surely are. Male or female, an English Setter is still the best companion for any type of family.

I became a member of the English Setter Association of America in 1973 and I abide by their Breeder's Code of Ethics.  I breed healthy, affectionate and gentle natured English Setters without shyness or fear.  I stand behind my puppies & provide lifetime support and advice.  I am proud of my puppies & the loving families that provide homes for them. Please view the testimonial page for comments from the families that own my setters.

Puppies are born and raised in my home and make excellent companions. Each puppy is socialized every day from birth and exposed to my own dogs, nine-year-old son, and all sights and sounds of a busy household. Failure to properly expose a young puppy to certain situations and/or different types of people during this early period can result in fearfulness as they become adults. Proper socialization will ensure that your puppy will grow up to be happy and a well-rounded companion for life.  Individual personalities are inevitable - but a gentle caring beginning is easier to build on and much preferred over having to undo fearful behavior. English Setters are an absolutely wonderful breed and I can't imagine my life without them!
